My Therapeutic Philosophy: AWE Therapy
My philosophy of therapy is grounded in a deepening understanding of what it means to be human, an understanding that has evolved through my own experiences and, perhaps most profoundly, through the privilege of working alongside clients and horses.
Over time, I have come to recognise that the essence of my therapeutic approach can be expressed through AWE: Awareness, Wonder and Embodiment.
These three interconnected qualities form the foundation of my practice. They invite us to become more aware of ourselves and our experiences, to approach what we discover with curiosity and wonder rather than judgement, and to reconnect with the wisdom held within our bodies.
Through this process, the possibility emerges for a different expression of AWE: Acceptance, Wisdom and Empowerment.
Acceptance invites us to meet ourselves as we are, rather than as we believe we should be. Wisdom develops as we deepen our understanding of ourselves, our relationships and our experiences. Empowerment emerges as we begin to recognise our capacity for choice, change and authentic living.
AWE Therapy is not a prescriptive method or a destination to be reached. Rather, it is a philosophy that informs how I meet and work alongside my clients. It provides a meaningful framework that keeps my practice grounded in presence, relationship and respect for each individual's unique experience.
Ultimately, AWE Therapy is about creating the conditions in which awareness and wonder can deepen our connection with ourselves, allowing acceptance, wisdom and empowerment to emerge.
